Evidence-Driven Research. Transformative Education. Resilient Nepal.
Wide Research, Education and Development (WRED) partners directly with isolated Himalayan valleys and vulnerable Terai communities to bring solar digital classrooms, action-oriented agro-research, and life-saving healthcare infrastructure.
Districts Covered
From snowbound Upper Karnali to flood-prone southern Terai plains
Lives Directly Impacted
Children in classrooms, expectant mothers, and smallholder mountain farmers
Financial Transparency
Full public audits and annual statutory filings with the Social Welfare Council
Scholarships Awarded
Empowering girls in STEM & providing solar-powered offline digital tablets
Bridging Geographic Remoteness with Grassroots Dignity
Founded in 2018 in Lalitpur, Wide Research, Education and Development (WRED) was built on one guiding conviction: lasting national progress begins where roads end.
Wide Research
We don't guess—we investigate. We conduct rigorous baseline surveys on high-altitude agriculture, glacier lake flood risks, and rural health disparities to build verifiable public policy.
Transformative Education
Equipping isolated Himalayan community schools with solar-powered micro-grids, offline digital servers, STEM scholarships for young women, and continuous pedagogical teacher training.
Sustainable Development
Delivering community-owned infrastructure: seismic-resistant public libraries, deep-aquifer bio-sand water towers in flood-prone Terai, and mobile prenatal telemedicine clinics.
Flagship Community Interventions
Every project is co-designed with local ward committees and village councils, ensuring 100% community ownership from day one.
Himalayan Digital Classrooms & Solar Micro-Grids
Installing off-grid solar-powered digital learning centers and providing teacher training in 12 remote schools of Upper Karnali.
High-Altitude Climate Resilient Agriculture Research
Action research on drought-tolerant indigenous crops (Buckwheat, Millet) and drip-irrigation greenhouse clusters in Mustang.
Safe Drinking Water & Sanitation in Flood-Prone Terai
Deep-bore filtration systems and menstrual hygiene friendly sanitation blocks across 8 public schools in Rautahat & Sarlahi.
Voices From The Field
Real stories from local educators, women farmers, and community leaders whose lives are shaped by WRED’s initiatives.
"Before WRED installed the solar micro-grid and offline digital library, our school had to shut down for two months every winter when the snow fell. Now our classrooms are warm, and students come eagerly every morning to learn science and math on the interactive tablets."
Karma Tshering Lama
Headmaster, Shree Janakalyan Secondary School
Khatyad-4, Mugu, Karnali
"Climate change dried up our traditional mountain springs. WRED’s agricultural research team brought high-altitude drip polyhouses and drought-tolerant buckwheat seed strains. For the first time in four years, our village harvest increased by over 40%."
Pema Dolma Gurung
Chairperson, Muktinath Women’s Farming Cooperative
Baragung, Mustang, Gandaki
"Expecting mothers in our ward used to walk a full day across rugged mountain trails just to get an ultrasound in Kathmandu. The mobile telemedicine camp caught 4 breach-position pregnancies in our village alone, ensuring timely hospital transfers that saved lives."
